Friday marked our last of work, a somewhat bittersweet moment. After about four years, its nice to now have some time off to see friends and family, relax and enjoy our engagement. But at the same time, we're giving up an income at a time when the economy is still shaky. And for me, I've worked with the same group of people for about three and a half years now and developed close ties to them. I think both of us also realized during our last week just how replaceable we are. We've worked hard over the last few years at our jobs, yet both our companies will move on next week without us without much of a glitch. Such is life I guess.
Anyways, to celebrate our new found freedom, impending move and recent engagement we went out for a nice dinner in DC. We spent the evening at The Melting Pot, enjoying a bottle of wine, a glass of champagne (on the house when they heard about our celebration) and a three hour dinner. As much as we've loved sharing the news with all of our family and friends, the dinner was a chance to forget about the outside world and relax with each other. Even though we've already started making plans for Los Angeles, this weekend truly marks the beginning of the next adventure in our lives and our first together.
